Bolera is a music player that talks to your Jellyfin server. It doesn't have a backend, doesn't have an account system, and doesn't collect personal data. The short version: nothing about you goes anywhere except the services you've explicitly signed in to.

What we collect

Nothing. Bolera has no servers and no analytics. We don't track usage, opens, crashes, IPs, identifiers, or anything else.

What stays on your device

  • Your Jellyfin server URL, username, and access token (stored in the iOS/macOS Keychain)
  • Your downloaded tracks (in the app's local file storage)
  • Your settings: EQ curve, library visibility toggles, ignored items, sidebar pins, recently-played caches
  • Your Last.fm session key, if you sign in (also stored in the Keychain)

What's synced via iCloud

If you're signed in to iCloud and Bolera Pro is unlocked, a small set of settings sync across your devices through Apple's iCloud Key-Value Storage: your EQ curve, library visibility toggles, ignored tracks/artists/albums, and pinned items. Apple manages this storage end-to-end; we never see it.

What goes to your Jellyfin server

Bolera communicates with the Jellyfin server you sign in to. That includes browsing requests, playback reporting (now-playing / progress / stopped — standard Jellyfin behavior), favorite toggles, and audio streaming. No copy of these requests touches us; they go device → your server.

What goes to Last.fm (optional)

If you sign in to Last.fm in Settings, Bolera makes requests to the Last.fm API on your behalf for:

  • Looking up similar artists and bios for the artist detail page
  • Fetching top-track / tag data used by Daily Mixes and Make-a-Mix
  • Scrobbling plays, only when the "Scrobble plays" toggle is on

Your Last.fm username and session key go between your device and Last.fm directly. We never proxy or store them. You can sign out at any time from Settings → Last.fm.

In-App Purchases

Bolera Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple's StoreKit. Apple handles the transaction, billing, and refunds; we receive only the anonymous purchase receipt your device passes to the app at runtime. We never see your Apple ID, card details, or address.

Apple Intelligence (on-device only)

The Make-a-Mix feature uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. Your prompts are processed locally by the model that ships with the OS — nothing leaves your device for this step. Bolera then uses the model's tag suggestions to query Jellyfin and (optionally) Last.fm as described above.

Children

Bolera is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we'll update the "Last updated" date and post the new version on this page.
